Sicily, the largest of the Italian islands, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and separated from the mainland by the Strait of Messina. In recent years Sicily has invented itself as an excellent golfing destination with three beautiful resorts. Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is probably the best-known golf resort on Sicily, owned by Rocco Forte, home to the Sicilian Open and part of the European Tour schedule. The three best golf resorts on the island; Verdura, Donnafugata and Il Picciolo each offer something very different in style but the Sicilian charm shines through whichever luxury resort you choose to stay.
Sicily has good flight access from the UK into either Palermo Airport in the west for Verdura or Catania in the east for Donnafugata or Il Picciolo.
The island has a rich history with plenty to discover ranging from nature to history. The scenery is stunning with crystal blue waters, beautiful countryside and, of course, the volcanoes with the most famous being Mount Etna. If you are a golfer looking for a luxury but with traditional charm then Sicily would be an excellent choice
