This beautiful part of the province has rightly been given the name Costa Dorada which means Golden Coast. In recent years, this region has become an increasingly popular golf holiday destination.
The Costa Dorada, or Costa Daurada as it is also known lies beneath Barcelona, and stretches from the south of the Costa Brava to Tarragona. The region is quite different from its northern neighbor, the Costa Brava . The coastline is less rugged, with endless miles of flat golden sandy beaches.
Golf on the Costa Dorada is superb, and the region is home to some excellent courses such as the new PortAventura Golf Resort , Bonmont Terres Noves, Costa Dorada Golf, Panoramica Golf Club, Masia Bach and Reus Aiguesverds. The climate is ideal for golf all year round and the courses are easily accessible from the main coastal resorts.
The Costa Dorada has Tarragona as its capital and is served by Reus/Tarragona airport along with Barcelona airport which is forty five minutes to the north. Tarragona is a superb example of a Roman city and is now a World Heritage centre and well worth a visit.
The main tourist towns on the Costa Dorada are Sitges, Torredembarra, Salou with its PortAventura theme park, Cambrils and L'Ametlla de Mar. In the hinterland there are beautiful mountains, the banks of the Ebro, fine old cities such as Tortosa and Montblanc, ancient monasteries with a long historical tradition and set amongst spectacular scenery including Montserrat, Poblet and Santes Creus.
The Costa Dorada is also home to important wine growing areas such as Penedes, Priorat and Terra Alta. Many of these vineyards have organised tours which include tasting.
Thanks to the surrounding range of mountains, the Costa Daurada enjoys its own dry and sunny micro-climate, making it an ideal choice for a winter golfing holiday. Even in November and February, golf can be played in shorts.

View Costa Dorada Lumine HillsNestling around a small mountain the Lumine Hills course has a lot of character and some very interesting features. Three of the greens have been placed in old quarries giving them a scent of the "Wild West", but otherwise the course can best be described as a slightly hilly parkland course.
View Costa Dorada Lumine Lakes Golf CourseDesigned by Greg Norman, the Lumine Lakes course is a true championship layout that will really test your golf. The holes have gently been laid out around a bird's habitat which now has been declared a natural reserve. The course is easy to walk but buggies are always available.
