The sunshine island of Tenerife is the ideal destination for a winter golfing holiday and golf tourism is booming. With seven golf courses to choose from, the island is a great choice for a golf holiday.
The largest and most popular of the Canary Islands, Tenerife lies just off the coast of Africa within easy flying time of every major UK airport.
The sea breeze and the Gulf current combine to produce an agreeable year-round climate with the temperature in Winter between 17 and 21centigrade and in the Summer rarely rising above 23 centigrade. With only a few days rainfall per year, Tenerife is the ideal place for a golf holiday, Summer or Winter.
The magnificent peak of Mount Teide towers some 4,000 metres above sea-level over a wide variety of different sceneries and climates with near-desert conditions of the south contrasting sharply with the lush tropical vegetation of the south of this fascinating island.
One of the things about Tenerife - apart from its superb climate, spectacular scenery and great beaches - which makes it such a great golf holiday destination, is the fact that everything is so close by. A golfer could play a leisurely round at the Real Club de Golf de Tenerife in the north of the island, have a relaxing lunch and motor south in plenty of time to tee off for an afternoon round at any of the five courses in the south.
